Vickie Luciano, RNC, a certified psychiatric nurse with more than 21 years of healthcare experience, works with clients to promote their independence and maintain dignity by arranging appropriate health services and home assistance. Prior to starting Elder Care Directions, Vickie worked nearly six years as coordinator of the psychiatric home health program for Senior Healthcare, a Broward County home healthcare agency. During her time with Senior Healthcare, she was involved in planning the direction of patient care by serving as a liaison between patients, family members and medical staff. Vickie also served as a charge nurse in the adult acute care unit at Retreat Hospital in Sunrise, Fla., for three years. Prior to that she was a charge nurse for four years at the Care Unit of Coral Springs, a hospital specializing in chemical dependency. During her tenure in both facilities she worked to provide a high level of medical care for patients and supportive counseling for their families. Vickie also has experience working in the medical units of North Broward Hospital and Northwest Regional Hospital. In addition, she has worked in a private doctor’s office. In addition to professional experience, Vickie has personally faced the healthcare decisions adult children need to make for their own aging parents and family members. Caring for a family member with Parkinson's disease has provided her with great insight into the disease process and what the patient and family experiences.
